Thermometers this week have recorded the hottest temperatures so far this summer with highs of 38 degrees according to the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet). But in Malaga city centre a digital sign bearing a searing 41 degrees was spotted yesterday morning.
Coastal areas are the worst hit by the heat wave; Estepona will head the table with maximum temperatures of no lower than 35 degrees this weekend coming, while Marbella, Torrox, Nerja and Vélez-Málaga will also be affected by unusually high temperatures. According to Aemet, the nights will also be very warm this weekend with lows of 20 degrees centigrade.
Consumers associations have recommended the ‘restrained use’ of air conditioning to avoid enormous electricity bills. The recommended temperature at which to set these devices is 25 degrees.
